StudyMode surveyed 1,300 high school and college students and found that 87% procrastinate on their schoolwork.

45% say their procrastination negatively impacts their grades on at least a fairly regular basis.

51% of students finish projects the night before they are due. 15% finish assignments to morning of class, and 7% ask for an extension.

 

Top distractions include watching television or movies (No. 1), using social media, and sleeping.

 

67% of female high school students said social media is what they most likely do instead of homework. 59% of male high school students said playing games is what they most likely do.

48% of students say they procrastinate because of feeling overwhelmed and 40% because they don’t know where to start.

79% of college students have pulled an all-nighter to finish an assignment this year.
